The British built a hill station here so complete that it still has a post office that looks like a Surrey cottage, a horse racing track, a Victorian golf course, and a grand colonial hotel. Surrounded by some of the world's finest tea plantations, with cool air, strawberry farms, and waterfalls around every bend, it's one of Sri Lanka's most charming and unexpected destinations.

Gregory Lake
A peaceful lake in the middle of town with pedal boats, horse rides, and views of the surrounding tea-carpeted hills.
Hakgala Botanical Gardens
Built in 1884 as an experimental garden for introducing cinchona plants, now a beautiful 27-acre garden of roses, orchids, and tree ferns at 1,745m.
Victoria Park & Strawberry Farms
Walk through the colonial Victoria Park and stop at one of the roadside strawberry farms to pick fresh berries.
Return Journey
Drive back to Colombo or Kandy, arriving by approximately 9:00 PM.
